A LONGQUAN CELADON ‘BAMBOO’ BARBED-RIM STEM CUP, YUAN TO EARLY MING China, 14th century. Well potted with shallow sides flaring to an everted barbed rim, supported on a segmented foot simulating bamboo. The exterior carved with alternating vertical single and double lines, the interior with curved lines suggesting a stream. Covered overall with an even deep celadon glaze save for the unglazed foot ring burnt to orange in the firing. Provenance: UK private estate. Condition: Excellent condition with minor wear and firing flaws, including a large firing crack to the interior of the foot with associated glaze recesses.
