A TRANSPARENT ‘CHILONG’ AQUAMARINE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE

A TRANSPARENT ‘CHILONG’ AQUAMARINE GLASS SNUFF BOTTLE China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic period (1912-1949). The slightly flattened ovoid body rising from an oval foot ring to a cylindrical neck. Carved in relief through the transparent aquamarine glass with a pair of sinuously coiled chilong chasing the flaming pearl, the larger biting a lingzhi spring. With an associated glass stopper in imitation of coral, black platelet, and bone spoon. Condition: Very good condition with minor surface wear. Provenance: Hungarian private collection, according to the current owner acquired from a Swiss private collection in 1990. Weight: 58.3 g Dimensions: Height 6.5 cm incl. stopper
