A GILT BRONZE MOUNTED ARCHAISTIC JADE VASE
China, around 1880. Of flattened form, the rectangular body supported on a short foot and rising to a waisted neck, the shoulder carved with a pair of detailed lion masks suspending mock ring handles and the body with a bands of taotie masks within stylized clouds and dotted stripes. The pale celadon jade with cloudy white inclusions. Both the foot and mouth rim set with gilt bronze mountings.
Condition: Good condition with minor wear mainly to gilding, natural age cracks and few minuscule nicks here and there.
