A TIBETAN GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF PALDEN LHAMO ON A HORSE Tibet, first half of the 20th century. The finely cast gilt bronze figure of Palden Lhamo sitting on a horse, the right arm raised in karana mudra, holding a kartika knife and a kapala, dressed in an elaborate robe, wearing a ferocious facial expression with glaring eyes, revealing sharp teeth, and pierced with a third eye in between thick eyebrows, the flaming hair adorned with a five-skull diadem, surmounted on a single lotus plinth with a big kapala and tiny sculls atop. The base sealed off with a copper plate showing an incised double vajra. Condition: Overall good condition with traces of wear and age, and surface scratches. Provenance: French private collection.
