A TIBETAN GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF YAMA DHARMARAJA Tibet, first half of the 20th century. The gilt bronze figure with fine chase work and inlays, portraying the buffalo-headed deity Yama Dharmaraja, standing in alidhasana and hands held in tarjani mudra on top of a reclining bull with a prostrate figure underneath, wearing beaded festooned jewelry adorned with vajras and chakra wheels, with a fierce facial expression, bulging eyes, baring fangs, and flaming hair. The consort standing on the bull as well, carrying a kapala in her hand, surmounted on a single lotus pedestal and the base sealed off with a copper plate showing an incised double vajra. Condition: Good condition with traces of wear and age, surface scratches, and casting flaws. Provenance: French private collection. Weight: 1.46 kg Dimensions: Height 19.4 cm
