A GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF PADMAPANI

A GILT BRONZE FIGURE OF PADMAPANI Sino-Tibetan, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) to Republic Period (1912-1949). Cast as Padmapani standing in abhanga on a double-lotus base with hips slightly thrust to the right, the right hand held in varada mudra with the left holding a stem extending upwards and opening into a lotus blossom over the left shoulder, clad in a dhoti and adorned with jewelry, wearing a crown, the face rendered with a gentle countenance. Condition: Good condition with traces of wear, such as nicks and small dents, wear to the gilt, and manufacturing irregularities. The foot with malachite encrustations. Provenance: Hungarian private collection, according to the current owner acquired from a German private collection. Weight: 1571 g Dimensions: 33.2 cm
