A SMALL BRONZE FIGURE OF A PRAYING WORSHIPPER

A SMALL BRONZE FIGURE OF A PRAYING WORSHIPPER Nepal, 17-18th century. A bronze figure of a pious man wearing a Pagri hat and festive attire, sitting in a kneeling position with his hands raised in praying gesture. The figurine attached to the rectangular base by three pins, inscription incised to the sides of the base reads: Donated by Thakusin of Ujhhachhen to Goddess Bal Kumari on 7th Day of the month of Jestha, 912 Samvat (1792 CE). Condition: Extensive patina, traces of wear commensurate with age, an element (possibly a butter lamp) in front of the praying man is missing, otherwise good condition.
