A CAST IRON PHURBU AND A BRONZE VAJRA

A CAST IRON PHURBU AND A BRONZE VAJRA Tibet, 19th century. The Phurbu with a tripartite blade issuing from the jaws of a makara, with entwined serpents meandering down the sides, the vajra grip surmounted by three wrathful heads wearing skull tiaras, the hair gathered into a vajra finial. The vajra with central flattened globular knop flanked by lotus petals and beaded edges extending to four pronged ends issuing from expressively cast makara heads. Condition: Good condition with wear, few minuscule nicks and small dents. Provenance: Austrian Private collection. Weight: 135.2 g (the vajra) and 601.5 g (the phurba) Dimensions: Length 12 cm (the vajra) and 25.5 cm (the phurba)
