[ROMANIA] Prince Alexandre Ghika (1795-1862): LAS in French dated Bucharest, September 10, 1837, addressed to Count de Belleval. Letter probably in the hand of a secretary, signed by the prince "...In accordance with your wishes I transmit to you, enclosed, the chronological list of the Princes of Wallachia; I see with pleasure that our country continues to occupy you; this gives me the hope to see appearing one day something which will be able to remind Europe that there exists at one of its extremity a small corner of land which is perhaps not unworthy of its looks...". Alexander II Ghica or Alexandru Dimitrie Ghika IX is a member of the princely GHICA family. He was Prince of Wallachia from 1834 to 1842 then Caimacan of Wallachia from 1856 to 1858.
