VERY RARE POLYCHROME WOOD PANEL Northern Italy, ca. 1770 W_1043 cm H_26 cm The Hebrew text is a poem in which the first letters of each line form the acronym of the name "Shabtai" and addresses a prayer to the Creator for benevolence towards Shabtai and his progeny and protection from all evil. This may have been a gift that Shabtai received and was fixed in his home, or it may have been in a prayer room (small family synagogue) in a large house belonging to a wealthy Italian Jewish family.
