A brown tortoiseshell and engraved brass wall clock decorated with foliage scrolls, gilt bronze ornamentation with a figure of Mercury, espagnolettes, rosette and fame. The dial and the movement signed by Martin in Paris. In the taste of Charles Cressent. Regency period. H : 121 cm, W : 41 cm, D : 21 cm ACCIDENTS AND MISSING PARTS Several of the bronzes decorating this cartel are directly related to the repertoire of Charles Cressent. These include the espagnolettes in the corners and the figure of Mercury. They are also found on the cartels with Leda or Danae (A. Pradère, Charles Cressent, Dijon, 2003, p. 189 and 302). However, these elements do not allow a firm attribution to the famous cabinetmaker.
