JAUME MERCADÉ QUERALT (Valls 1889 - Barcelona 1967). Brooch in silver and 18kt yellow gold with a central amazonite, cabochon cut, bordered by fine pearls and enameled in yellow, blue and green colors. Piece signed on the shank. In its original satin and velvet case. From the Kramer & Co. jewelry store, Havana. Attached certificate issued by Jaume A. Mercadé i Galès, grandson, connoisseur and preserver of the artist's work. Measurements: 4.9 x 4.2 cm. Jaume Mercadé was a Spanish painter and goldsmith. A disciple of Francesc d'Assís Galí, from 1919 he taught jewelry and goldsmithing at the School of Arts and Crafts of the Mancomunitat. He had his first individual exhibition at the Galerías Laietanes in Barcelona (1916). Initiated in Fauvism, he was later influenced by Noucentisme. His work stands out for its serenity and balance, within a restrained modernity. In the National Museum of Art of Catalonia you can see some of his paintings as well as some jewels made in collaboration with Emili Armengol i Gall and Manolo Hugué.
