Léo DROUYN (1816-1896) Album of the Sauve-Majeure Infolio containing 16 engraved hors-texte plates by Léo Drouyn, student of Paul Delaroche and Jules Coignet, archaeologist, and designer of the of the Historical Monuments Commission. 47 x 31 cm The abbey of Sauve-Majeure, former monastery of the order of Saint Benoit is located in the commune of La Sauve in Gironde. Exploited as a quarry for 40 years after the Revolution, these remains are finally classified historical monument in 1840. Leo Drouyn's work is a precious testimony of the state of the monument in 1851.
