BUST OF NAPOLEON BONAPARTE 19th century period Sculpture in white marble On a marble pedestal Height : 50 cm Total height: 65 cm Anxious to create a convincing political image, as was the the tradition of the Roman emperors, Napoleon Bonaparte entrusted his sister with the control of the Accademia di Carrara. This bust in white marble is based on a model by Antoine- Denis Chaudet (1763-1810) now in the museum at Rueil-Malmaison (inv. Rueil-Malmaison (inv. N° MM40474366). We find the emperor in bust, bare head, the hairstyle composed of The hairstyle is made up of large locks of hair cut short and is said to be "Titus style", the gaze carried forward, without any accessory giving an impression of impression of nature and ideal.
