Description
*Important ovoid jar in porcelain. The body with a celadon cover is carved with an incised decoration in light relief of flowery scrolls, the pinched and flared neck is decorated with a frieze of ruyi topped by a frieze of Greek. On the lower part, the foot is decorated with a frieze of petals. It bears a six-character Qianlong mark in blue under the base. Old traces of glue on the foot suggest a possible old assembly with European bronzes, an old inventory label mentioning the number 231 under the base. CHINA, 18th century, Qianlong period.
