Germany, Bavaria - Order of Merit of St. Michael, founded in 1693, modified in 1837, grand-cross plaque, luxurious silver workmanship chased in openwork diamond points, the branches in burnished gold charged with the initials of the legend PFFP meaning "Principe Fidelis Favere Patria" (Faithful to the prince to serve the fatherland), enamelled gold centre, fastened by a toggle pin and two side hooks. 87 x 87 mm France, third quarter of the 19th century. By tradition and convenience, the chancellery of the orders of the kingdom of Bavaria seems to have long given grand crosses, along with a sumptuous jewel, an embroidered plaque... leaving it up to the recipient to obtain a metal plaque from the local market.
