The soldier's surname has been removed from all certificates. Border Infantry Regiment 128 was incorporated into Infantry Regiment 218 (99th Light Infantry Division) in December 1940. This was renamed Gebirgsjäger-Regiment 218 in 1941 and was subordinate to the 7th Mountain Division. Initially took part in the Eastern Campaign as part of the 6th Army. After being reorganized as a mountain division, it was transferred to Finland in 1942 and surrendered in Norway in 1945.
