The Mumuye people come from the Cross River region, and are among the oldest inhabitants of northeastern Nigeria. Statue of a Mumuye ancestor, standing, with a small, round face on top of a long body. The sagittal crest is barely suggested. The circular eyes surmount a nose and a small half-open mouth. The arms are separated from the torso; the movement is particularly remarkable.
