TBE+. Rare collector's item. 18 X 25 cm. Saint John Baptist de La Salle (1651-1719) was a French clergyman and an innovator in the field of pedagogy, who devoted his life to educating poor children. He was the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Canonized in 1900, he is celebrated on April 7. Marlier (1929-2011) is best known for having created with Gilbert Delahaye and illustrated the series of children's books featuring the character of Martine. Before creating "Martine" in 1964, Marlier illustrated educational books for learning calculation. The work he shared with his accomplice is an inescapable testimony of the society of the second half of the XXth century and the beginning of the XXIst century, which has fed and still feeds the imagination of millions of children.
