Description

Uderzo/Asterix/Belvision. Original drawing for the Belgian poster of the animated feature film "Asterix and Cleopatra". Gouache and Indian ink on cardboard. Work realized by the Belvision studio in 1968. Signed "d'après Uderzo". TBE+. Beautiful and very rare collector's item. 27,5 X 43,5 cm Asterix and Cleopatra is the second animated feature film based on the comic book by Goscinny and Uderzo published in 1963. It was released in France one year after the first film, on December 19, 1968. Belvision is a Belgian animation studio created by Raymond Leblanc in Brussels in 1955 to adapt the adventures of Tintin and Snowy for television. They had a quick success and, from 1956 to 2005, they made Brussels the capital of the European cartoon. For the record... A year earlier, Goscinny and Uderzo had been presented with a fait accompli, Asterix the Gaul had been produced entirely behind their backs. Discovering the truth during an invitation to a special screening to which Raymond Leblanc had invited them, the two authors had to accept the screening of the feature film in theaters because the conception of the film was very advanced. But they bitterly regretted not having been invited during the creative process, judging the film to be sympathetic but flabby, while also suffering from a laborious animation. However, in order for the screening to take place, René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo made one condition on which they were going to be adamant: from now on, they alone would be responsible for all future film adaptations of the character!
