Hatchet-shaped axe pendant ,Costa Rica, Guanacaste/Nicoya, Period IV, c. 1-500 A.D., in the shape of a bird god with anthropomorphic features. Blue-green jadeite. Stylized upper arm bosses, triangular downward chin tip, angular tapering head with mouth notch, the eye notches at the level of the skull with the outgrowths. H. 13.8 cm. Brown base. Provenance: Collection August Maurer, before 1986; Auction Vogler, 2015, Private collection Germany.
