TABRIZ carpet (Persia), 1st third of the 20th century Dimensions : 400 x 300cm. Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation. A brick-red field covered with a network of polychrome flowering stems and "Buddha's lips" known as the "Tchintamani" decoration hosts in its center a magnificent poly-lobed marine medallion decorated with stylized cream plant forms. Four spandrels of the same type embellish the whole. Two anthracite counter borders with suites of "Tchis" and flowers frame the main brick border with a succession of floral compositions and scrolls of flowers in polychrome. Carpet with a subtle Asian inspiration. (Small wears)
