He resided first on the Island of France and then on Reunion Island from August 12 to December 5, 1801 before returning to France. In 1804, he published the report of his stay under the title "Voyage dans les quatre principales îles des mer d'Afrique, Fait par ordre du gouvernement pendant les années neuf et dix de la République (1801-1802)" printed by F.
