Male statue Dan people Ivory Coast Wood H. 60,5 cm Provenance : Collected in situ by Mr. Begué between 1931 and 1935 This imposing male statue with short, rounded arms stands on two massive legs, one of which, slightly bent, initiates a movement characteristic of this type of Dan statuary. It is topped by a half-moon-shaped headdress with notched edges, the back of which is decorated with striations and a sort of crest.
