Description

Columned krater with black figures representing on both sides: two hoplites fighting. They are naked, wearing a Corinthian helmet and carrying a spear and a shield. The lip is decorated with palmettes, a frieze of buttons and stylised meanders. The scene is framed by tongues and meanders. Orange terracotta with black varnish, white highlights, wear and small bumps. Etruria, 5th century BC. Thermoluminescence test confirming the dating. Height : 28 cm
