Paris February 18 (1833 or 1834) "Mr LAMARTINE thanks very much Monsieur the Minister of Commerce (THIERS) for the help so well granted and so well placed on Mrs AGOULT. He is charged to transmit to him also not a request but a well-founded claim of one of his friends Mr Edgar QUINET... by doing justice to Mr QUINET (he) will have the pleasure to be useful to a young writer whose talent promises so much to our literature. Mr QUINET is one of those men who do not let themselves be forgotten. Mr de LAMARTINE eagerly takes advantage of this circumstance to renew to Mr THIERS the assurance of his distinguished feelings." Adolphe THIERS was Minister of Commerce in Dec. 1832 to 1834, he became President of the Republic in August 1871 (1797 - 1877); Edgar QUINET, is Historian, Philosopher and Politician (1803-1875).
