TWO ENAMELED ‘WU SHUANG PU’ PORCELAIN DISHES, 1900s TWO ENAMELED ‘WU SHUANG PU’ PORCELAIN DISHES, 1900s China, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912). The smaller dish decorated in polychrome enamels, gilt, and iron-red, with four figures from the Wu Shuang Pu (‘Table of peerless heroes’) and other legendary figures, including Dongfang Shuo, Mu Guiying, Wei Wuwang, and Su Ruolan (Su Hui), centered by the resting figure of Li Qinglian (Li Bai). The larger dish also with the poet Li Bai (here called Li Taibai) at the well, surrounded by Cao E (Cao Xiaonü) and Tao Yuanming, and two poems, one written on a vase, the other above stylized waves with an emerging gourd, the underside with an apocryphal iron-red four-character Xianfeng mark. Provenance: Austrian private collection. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, little rubbing to the gilt, iron-red, and enamels, light surface scratches, and firing flaws including dark spots, minor pitting, and a small firing crack. Weight: 271 g and 180 g Dimensions: Diameter 17.7 cm and 15.8 cm
