A Mughal dagger (kard). India. 19th century A single edged steel blade with an ivory hilt with pommel in shape of a horse's head with tongue sticking out. The sheath covered with red silk with woven patterns and metal fittings with punched designs. Total length 44.5 cm Provenance Private collection, Luxemburg, acquired from Gisèle Croës, at the Foire des Antquaires, Palais des Beaux Arts, Brussels, April 1978 Literature Published in: L'oeil, No. 273, April 1978, p.13 This lot contains materials which require a CITES licence for export outside of the EU contract countries.
