A Gandhara grey schist fragment of a standing Bodhisattva. Pakistan. 2nd/3rd century The figure stands in barely visible contrapost with somber facial features accentuated by large eyes, a large nose and full lips, the softly ondulating hair falling to the shoulder and held together by an ornamental head band, three necklaces, two with attached amulets, the robes clinging to the body falling in crisply carved folds. Behind the head a halo formed by flower petals. Height 38.5 cm Provenance Private collection, Rhineland, according to the consignor, acquired at Lempertz
