Blending cultural and historical references, media and techniques, Azi's complex works reflect a search for his own identity. His complex and intense work, mixing references, media and techniques, gives meaning to each line. In her complex, richly colored, multi-layered works, Azi explores the mundane and the dramatic, the profane and the sacred. Recalling memories of the past, such as photographs and objects, Azi reveals the forgotten history of people and places. Painted in 1989, this elaborate collage-based work invites the viewer to discover the themes that are dear to him. In an almost decorative rendering, he juxtaposes both Eastern and Western concepts in telling stories around major anthropological themes: identity, love, death and spirituality.
