Nasser CHAURA (Syrie, 1920-1992)
Landscape
Oil on canvas
94.5 x 70 cm
painted in 1995
signed in Arabic and Latin "N.CHAURA" and dated "1995" on the lower right.
"Chaura knew from the beginning of his artistic practice in the thirties that the purpose of art is to express the beauty of nature, and the knowledge was not new in itself, but he did not always bear responsibility for it. That the artist was his witness, Nasser Chaura began as an impressionist painter when realism prevailed in all his paintings. He was raising a new issue and opening horizons that we did not know. He was not a quiet artist, but rather a revolutionary. He did not settle on a style but changed it. He didn't just change it, but changed his vision, and at every turn he defined himself as a rebellious character, the rebellious "Nasser" who marked a generation with his works."
