Stamp of the studio in the lower left corner (Lugt L.2312b ) Situated and dated Saint-Cloud, January 1920 or 1928 lower right. 40 x 27 cm PROVENANCE: Galerie Prouté, 1985. Anatole France and Steinlen shared a bond of esteem and friendship, the latter illustrating the Crainquebille affair. Their progressive ideas convinced them of the usefulness of a social art.
