Six engravings from the 2nd edition of the series of sixteen prints from the series Battles and Conquests of the Emperor of China, plus four additional engravings, by Isidore-Stanislas Helman after drawings by Giuseppe Castiglione, Jean Denis Attiret, Ignatius Sichelbarth and Jean-Denis Damascene. Collection of the German painter Joachim Schlotterbeck (1926-2007), assembled in the 1960’s in Germany These six prints are taken from a reduced version of a set of sixteen prints known as Conquêtes et Victoires de l'Empereur de la Chine, commemorating the battles and victories of the Qianlong emperor in Central Asia between 1755 and 1759. The prints were commissioned by the emperor himself and produced in France by the best engravers under the direction of Charles Nicolas Cochin, between 1767 and 1774. 1785 Isidore Stanislas Helman published the same sixteen prints in 3 different reduced versions. The six engravings offered here are from the second edition to which four additional engravings (nos. 17-20) were added that were not originally part of the original series commissioned by the Qianlong emperor and engraved in France
