Edouard Dupain was a pupil of Alexandre Cabanel (1823-1889) and of
Jean-Marie Oscar Gué (1809-1877). He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1870 with The Death of the Nymph Hesperia. We owe him in particular the decoration of the ceiling of the Observatory of Paris.
