Original and beautiful Kashgai carpet (Persia), late 19th century Size : 228 x 133cm Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on wool foundation. Three hexagonal medallions, two ivory and one brick, with polychrome flowers, are placed on a charcoal field with multicoloured flowers and symbols. The field is divided by spandrels and pyramids with parallel ivory and anthracite bands of stylized vegetal decoration, which gives a "zigzag" shape. Two counter borders with multicoloured "X" crosses enclose the main brick decorated with a garland of stylised cruciform flowers.
