Description

This is a photographic album presenting the Renoupré and Casino de La Vesdre factories, a company that combed, dyed and spun wool in Verviers: exterior views of the buildings, machine rooms and workshops, stocks of supplies, employees' living areas (refectory, showers, etc.), i.e. 39 black and white photographs, landscape format (+/- 23 x 29 cm), captioned, under serpents. Album 4° à l'italienne in caramel morocco percaline, titled in gold on the first cover, string binding (binding slightly worn, a marginal tear on the first page, very good general condition). The name of the photographer is mentioned on the back cover: "Clichés et Photos L'Epi, 47, rue Gacheret, 47, Bruxelles." La Vesdre is a Belgian Limited Company founded in 1880 on the initiative of Verviers merchants and industrialists, who divided the shares among themselves. After a long period of prosperity, the activity declined after the Second World War, and then stopped in 1970. A remarkable testimony to the textile industry in Verviers at the beginning of the 20th century.
