Cornelis Galle I (1576-1650) - S. Hieronymo - After Carracci / Description: Saint Jerome praying before a crucifix in a cave. In his hand he holds a stone to chastise himself. At the back left, the lion, his attribute, is sleeping. A very good printed engraving by Cornelis Galle after one of the most documented and best-known works by Agostino Carracci (1557-1602) who's print was published shortly after his death in an unfinished state, later being completed and re-issued by Francesco Brizio. / Dimensions: 32,50 x 46,00 cm Very good impression on laid paper trimmed on the borderline, complete with text line. Condition and impression are very good.
