Georg Pencz (1500-1550) - Regulus in nail studded barrel / Description: Heroes from Roman history: Attilius Regulus; placed in a nail-studded barrel at left, about to be rolled down a hill by the Carthaginian soldiers and generals at right; from a series of four engravings. 1535. Signed with monogram PG and dated 1535 on a tablet at lower left and lettered there: 'REGULUS' --- Engraving made by: Georg Pencz. Two collection marks on the backside. / Dimensions: 11,50 x 7,50 cm A very good impression with full plate border and tread margins on fine laid paper from the period. Removed from collection sheet with some fragments of glue remains on the backside.
