Carved poplar panel decorated with the coat of arms of Bishop Francisco Barbado Viejo (1890-1964). The coat of arms is surmounted by a hat and a cord with six tassels. It bears the inscription Peña de Francia and is placed on a processional cross with a crossbar. The inscription VT VITAM HABEANT (that they may have life). Spain, Castile and Leon, 20th century H. 38 cm - L. 31 cm (wear and small accidents) The Peña de Francia is a mountain in the Sierra range. On its summit is the sanctuary of Our Lady of the Rock of France (in Spanish, santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia) founded in 1445. Bishop Francisco Barbado Viejo (1890-1964), bishop of Salamanca in 1942, bears on his shield the words Peña de Francia accompanied by the motto Ut vitam habeant, which can be seen on his tombstone in the cathedral of Salamanca.
