Jacques LINARD (Troyes, 1597 - Paris, 1645) Flowers in a vase of silverware, melon and figs Canvas 51 x 66 cm Dated and signed lower center 1640 I Linard. (restorations) Bibliography : Ph. Nusbaumer, Jacques Linard 1597-1645, Catalogue de l'œuvre peint, n°26, reproduced. About fifty paintings by Linard are known today, a large part of which is not located. The exhibition "Les peintres de la réalité" in 1934 marked the rediscovery of Linard; in 1935 the Louvre acquired La Corbeille de fleurs, followed by several others. The 1640s were an important period in the artist's production. Several works similar to ours are now preserved in museums, such as Bouquet de fleurs, avec la coupe au poète preserved in Madrid, Fundacion Thyssen - Bornemisza, or Panier de fruits avec un melon à droite preserved in the Bowes Museum, Great Britain (see P. Nusbaumer, Jacques Linard 1597-1645, Catalogue de l'œuvre peint, Paris, 2006, n°22 and n°29, reproduced). This lot is described by René Millet, Paris.
