[ORIGINAL MAQUETTE] [ORIGINAL PHOTOGRAPHS AND Sketches] Léonor FINI - Le miroir des chats - Formidable set comprising 5 portfolios in lace-up folders making up the complete maquette of the book "Le miroir des chats" published in 1977, testifying to the author's passion for these feline creatures. The portfolios include a total of around 220 original photographs, most of them laminated, by Richard OVERSTREET, Leonor Fini's great friend and resident expert on her work, and co-author of the catalog raisonné of her oil paintings. Of particular note are the trial prints, attempts at collage compositions with texts and photographs, remarks in pencil or pen, various sketches, some probably in the hand of Leonor Fini herself, as well as some very fine photographs, some in large format. These 220 photographs are divided into the following portfolios: first portfolio "Début : Panorama des chats = La nuit" / second portfolio "Suite et fin première partie ... masques + Petit cirque + Chat lune (fin)" / third portfolio "La Corse, La maison Putti" / fourth portfolio "La maison (suite, fin) & Visages petits + grands paradisiaques - féroces": an untitled portfolio comprising around 150 loose-leaf cat photographs in various formats, a cardboard folder containing the texts with the carbon version, text placements, the definitive original version, typescript texts with various handwritten notes and remarks. A considerable collection of some 370 photographs in various formats, plus numerous documents and accounts of the work's progress. [Enclosed] A copy of the definitive "Le miroir des chats" as published in the original edition, in good condition, large format in-4, 233pp (1) "Like those baroque statues that represent the Egyptian river invaded by putti, its confluences, I have the privilege, This is how Leonor Fini expressed her adoration for cats, and indeed, she lived in osmosis with her little companions, sleeping with them, painting in their presence, sometimes taking them as her subjects: "I paint cats' faces as I would human faces, without boring them into posing. And they are my favorite form." The artist wrote in her will that she wanted her cats to live out their lives in the apartment she occupied, before her heirs were able to benefit from it, as a way of paying tribute to the animals that shared her life and held a place of prime importance in it.
