AFAT (Maxime Perboire)

AFAT (Maxime Perboire) (Born in 1993 in Toulouse) - "Cabinet of curiosities" Tribute to André Breton - Acrylic on wood (130 x 97 cm) Afat is a visual artist from Toulouse. Having practiced drawing since childhood, he puts his hand on a spray paint can for the first time in the early 2010s. He takes to the game of graffiti that he practices for ten years. At the same time, he attended the University of Toulouse and Montauban where he graduated with a degree in design and a master in color. With this academic training, he can give free rein to his ideas and transcribe them on wall, canvas or paper. Although the spray paint can has served him well, Afat has now decided to prefer working with a brush and roller. He finds a great freedom of action which enriches his approach and increases his freedom to create. His work takes us into a phantasmagorical, satirical and poetic world with surrealist overtones. Hairy creatures, sometimes faceless, are planted throughout with brushes or branches hanging above the water, saving them from a sad drowning. This is undoubtedly a metaphor for his anxieties and what art represents to him.
