Michel BOUILLON (act.1638-1668)

Still life with flowers and melon on an entablature Oil on canvas, by Michel Bouillon Size: 68.5 x 48.5 cm Provenance : Private collection, Ghent Belgium Painter born in Ere where he was received as a Master in 1638, he was active in the North of France but especially in Tournai near his birthplace. If the career and biography of the artist remain rather vague to this day, we know that he gave lessons to Philippe de Champagne and that he is particularly renowned for his representations of interiors, but especially of flowers and fruits. In the way he treated them, he was influenced by the Dutch masters of the 17th century. Works in the Fine Arts Museums of Tournai and Bernay.
