Valentine de Laborde (1806-1894), was born into a family of politicians and financiers. In 1824 she married Gabriel Delessert, banker and prefect. She is famous for having been the mistress of Prosper Mérimée and Maxime Du Camp. She held a literary Salon where Musset, Delacroix, Chateaubriand were crowded. She had a great influence at the court of Napoleon III.
