In-12: plum jansenist morocco, ribbed spine, red morocco lining with gilt fillet, brown silk endpapers, gilt edges, cover and spine preserved, case (Semet et Plumelle). First edition, printed at 1125 copies. In a playful tone, Paul Verlaine recounts his incarcerations and judicial misadventures, then goes on to tell the story of his Christian conversion in prison. One of 25 numbered copies on Hollande paper (no. 6). A very fine copy in lined binding. The engraved portrait of Verlaine by Maurice Baud, printed on China paper, is mounted at the head of the book.
