Luca MADRASSI (1848-1919) The Sea Fairy Bronze with light and dark brown patinas. Signed Madrassi on the shell. Titled Sea Fairy by Madrassi Sculpt. in a gilt bronze cartouche on the base. H.70 cm Of Italian origin, Luca Madrassi trained as a sculptor in Rome and then in Paris with Pierre-Jules Cavalier before joining the workshop of Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse. He then became the practitioner of Gustave Doré between 1876 and 1880. From 1879, Madrassi presented numerous allegorical subjects at the Salon des Artistes Français.
