History The higher workshops of arts and techniques, called Vkhoutemas, were created in Moscow in 1920 and grouped together free workshops whose objective was to rethink the role of arts and crafts in order to reconcile artistic production with the needs of a communist society. Liubov Popova taught in Vkhumas between 1920 and 1923. She shared with her students her research in geometric abstraction, so that they could experiment with shapes, colours and media. It was probably during these years that our three paintings were created. In fact, all three works are repeats of famous paintings by Lyubov Popova where it is possible to see modifications and some interpretation by one of the students who kept them in a drawing book.
