Element of decoration mounted as a brooch in 18K (750) yellow gold and silver, drawing a fleuron openwork of a star entirely set with roses and applied with a Sacred Heart set with rubies and emerald. Portugal, end of the 18th century. D_3,5 cm Gross weight : 18,21 g. This type of decoration was on top of the cross of one of the three military orders secularized in 1789 by Queen Marie I. It is either the order of Christ, or the order of Santiago, or the order of Saint Benoit d'Aviz. We thank Mr Jean-Christophe Palthey for his help in the expertise of this object.
