Description

*Personnage debout

One arm along the body and one of his forearms raised, his hands in a symbolic gesture. He wears a belt with a rectangular loincloth that falls elegantly on his thigh. His legs are powerful and his torso is swollen with strength. His face has a beautiful expression of authority accentuated by his open mouth and his gaze directed towards the ground. The lobes of his distended ears were originally intended to receive ornaments due to his rank. His head is encircled by a crown in the form of a band with radiating outgrowths. The position and attitude of this lord indicate that he is personified in an enthronement ceremony of accession to power. Hollow beige-brown terracotta Veracruz - Totonaque, Mexico, 600 - 900 AD.
