*Sculpture anthropomorphe

representing a standing man. The arms and legs are spread out and modelled in the roundness of the Olmec style. He wears a headdress decorated in its center with a medallion from the top of which emerge strands of hair painted in red. The square face is wide in relation to the body, and sinks into the shoulders. The trapezoidal mouth is open and the nose is rounded. The pectoral muscles are prominent, the waist is slim and the hips are prominent. He is dressed in a loincloth and is adorned with red body paint on his torso, on the ends of his arms and legs, and on his face. Solid terracotta with red decoration. Good state of conservation Olmec, Mexico, 1150 - 900 BC 12.5 x 6.3 x 3.5 cm Provenance: Former Nicholas Stoetzer collection, 1969 A thermoluminescence analysis by the QED laboratory will be given to the buyer.
